Precept Surgeries | Thu 21 Feb 2013
Following on from the report in the Cornishman on the 31st January regarding Hayle Town Council’s Precept, the Council has again decided to hold two sessions where members of the public can receive further information relating to the Precept and the proposed increase.
The first of these will take place on Thursday 21st February 2013 from 4pm to 7pm and the second will be held on Thursday 4th April 2013 following the delivery of the demand at the end of March.
Open days were held last year as the Council went about explaining the need to make financial provision for the maintenance of a number of amenity sites in the town owned by the Town Council and which are in the process of being handed back to the Council having been maintained by Cornwall Council under a lease arrangement.
The sites include the Recreation Ground, The King George Memorial Ground, The Plantation, Station Hill Gardens and The Millpond with an estimated annual cost for care and maintenance of £100,000 per annum.
In addition the Town Council has agreed to take over the operation of toilets from Cornwall Council to prevent some closures and which requires an increase of £10,000.
Finally, provision has also been made for the possible acquisition of the Frank Johns Centre for community use requiring an increase of £12,500.
No appointment is required and Councillors and staff will be available to meet with members of the public at the offices at The Community Centre, 58 Queensway, Hayle TR 27 4NX. Telephone no. 01736-755005.
